A new lay-out comes with a fresh start

The first post is always the most difficult one. It doesn't matter if it is for a new blog of for one which is re-animated for the 3rd or 4th time.

I decided to give sportsbetting another go. I did stop cause I just lost interest in sportsbetting and blogging, it hadn't anything to do with not being successful. Like most of the one returning a successful bet did it for me.

The first thing I did was pimping the blog lay-out. I hope you all enjoy it. Not really satisfied myself but I do feel that it is an improvement.

This time my main focus will be on the Supertoto, offered by Unibet and Expect. I will shortly a blog post a more detailed post about the supertoto. I did start last weekend with a betting slip with 128 columns representing a bet of 12,8 euros. The result was a pay-out of around 87 euros, so a profit of 75 euros. Not bad.

Still doubting about how I will this blog. Will I present my bets in advice, will I pick some games of the supertoto and do some research about them or just post my results. I don't like blogs which just presenting their result but for the moment I don't have enough time available to do other wise. Around December I will have more time available.

Like always I have set a goal, besides making a profit (which is to obvious). I would like to have a Supertoto ticket with all 14 correct before the end of season. Let's see if I could do this.

Here we go again

I'm glad that I did stay of the Friendly games. For sure I would have selected Belgium to win in Estonia but we all know the result of that game. I will be hard for us to qualify ourselves for another big tourney.

The 6 selected games for this weekend are:

All home wins as you can see. The matches which will probably break or make this bet are NEC - ADO and Kortijk - Roeselare. I did pick these to lift the possible pay-out to an acceptable level.
While ADO isn't bad, they don't have an away reputation. NEC should be capable of winning this game 8 out of 10 times.
Kortrijk has a lot more quality than Roeselare and to this to more than decent defense and we have a winner.

Well 6 games correct, good for a profit of 7.30 euros.
Also glad that I did stay of the supertoto, I doubt it if I would have predicted 12 out of 14 correct.

Still not sure if I will play on the World Cup qualification games of Wednesday. In a lot of groups everything is already decided, which makes a lot of games of Wednesday pure friendly games and these are always dangerous.

In stead I will prepare my weekend bets. If you are playing to bet on Wednesday, the following odds are looking very appealing.

Italy - cyprus: 1 for 1.22
Estland - Belgium: 2 for 1.75

A safe bet for this weekend?

To be honnest, a safe bet is a fantasy. But my bet for this weekend has such a low pay-out that it almost can have the stamp "safe bet" on it.

I will stay off the supertoto for this weekend, to many risky games involved. Last weekend I finally made a profit. 12 out of 14 games correct and this on a combined ticket good for a pay-out a little bit above 10 euros.

But back to the betting plan for this weekend. All qualification matches for the World Cup. Tip of the week: stay of the friendly matches!!!

I did an attempt to pick the most safe matches, at least safe in my eyes.

Here comes the weekend (betting round 4)

And it started badly. 2 out of my 6 selected games were Friday evening matches. While Vitesse won against Sparta, AA Gent couldn't keep the 3 points at home against Mouscron and that last one was a surprise to me.

The other 4 games are:

- Inter - Udinese: 1
- Marseille - Monaco: 1

As you can see, a lot of risky bets for this weekend. With these I was hoping to make up the loss in the EL. But with 1 incorrect prediction already it will be though to make a profit, which is still possible. We will see.

Profit made on the CL, up to the EL

The system worked. Yeah!!! 5 out of 6 correct, good for a profit of 1.87 euros. Probably I'm not the only one who did not predict the loss of AC Milan at home against Zurich.

So we are now 2 betting rounds far. On the positive side we had a pay-out of 8.53 euros, on the negative side the ante was 12 euros. It should have been better, but the first betting round was a real downer with only 3 out of 6 games correct.

Tomorrow there is a match day in the euro league. I have picked the following matches:

- Galatasaray - Strum Graz: 1

Champions League here we come

Last weekend wasn't an excellent start of my new betting plan to be honest. Only 3 games out of 6 correct. Nothing to brag about. Good, not actually a good word, for a pay-out of 0.66 euros.

So lets start with betting round number 2. I have picked the following 6 games from the champions league games:
1. AC Milan - FC Zurich: 1
2. Arsenal - Olumpiakos: 1
3. Bordeaux - Maccabie Haifa: 1
4. DVCS Debrecen - Lyon: 2
5. Glasgow Rangers - Sevilla: 2
6. Manchester United - VFL Wolfsburg: 1

If all 6 are correct, it means a pay-out of 20,26 euros.

A new betting plan. What do you think about it?

Cause my previous betting plan did take to much time in preparation and wasn't quit as successful as I hoped it was.
So it is time for a new betting plan. I tried it last weekend and it made me a profit of 20 euros.

So here it is:
In stead of creating multiple combos, I only create 1 betting slip. On this slip I will play multiple combination all with an ante of 0.10 euros.
An example: This midweek I selected 6 games and filled in the betting slip as followed:
- 15 doubles @ 0.10 euro per double
- 20 trebles @ 0.10 euro per treble
- 15 fourfolds @ 0.10 euro per foudfold
- 6 fivefolds @ 0.15 euro per fivefold
- 1 sixfold @ 1 euro
So the total ante was 6.90 euro. Cause all the six games were correct the pay-out was 27.45 euro.

The big advantage with playing this betting plan is that it is possible to make a profit without having each 6 games correct. Depending on the odds it is possible to make a profit from 4 games and above of course.
Another advantage is that even with only 3 games correct you will receive a pay-out and minimizing the losses.

I will give myself 10 betting rounds to evaluate this betting plan. In stead of playing 1 euro on the sixfold I will play 0.4 euros on the sixfold. On all others I will bet 0.10 euros. Making a total ante of 6 euros per betting round.
Let's see what it brings.

No weekend bets? Only a supertoto

Hi all,

Silly me. I lost my sheet with the selected bets for this weekend and cause I do have the feeling that creating new ones is a bad idea I decided to only play the Supertoto.

In stead of going for a 1.60 euro ticket I doubled my ante, so it became a 3.20 ticket. Droping my bankroll just above 50 euros. So if it is a loosing ticket I did spend my complete deposit bonus.
So here is my Supertoto ticket for this week.

I guess that no explanation for this ticker is needed.

Weekend bets

Sorry for the late posting but had to play myself this evening and earlier in the week I was to buys with work.

The Twin:Cause I prefer to pick some risky matches for my Twin slip, the pay-out is pretty nice for a ticket with only 2 games. I also do believe that Roda should be capable of winning their first home game of the season. The draw last weekend @ Heereveen for sure will had a morale booster effect.
Lyon on the other side is determined to regain the title. Last season they surprisingly finished in spot 3. Le Mans on the other hand finished just above the relegation places. The odds are so high cause the bookies don't know yet what the real strength of the teams are at the moment.

The triplet:I expect a lot from VVV, for sure after their 3-3 draw at PSV. They really deserved it. I don't see them loosing their first home game of the season in the Eredivisie after a year of absense.
NAC Breda may not have any problem at home against Heracles. I do find the odds strangly high, we will see after the weekend if I was spot on.
The predicted victory for Hamburger SV is choosen as a good accumulator. Freiburg did promote last season back to the big boys. So they will be motivated enough to at least keep a point at home, but my gutfeeling says that the difference in quality between the teams is to big. If the game was later in the season, the story would be different cause Hamburger SV could underestimate them, but this won't happen in the first game of the season, which everybody wants to win.

The Multi Country special:Like the title says it all. A betting slip with a match of all the 4 comps I following. For rather safer bets. I don't see any problems for AZ and Werder Bremen. Also no worries for Rennes I guess. The thoughest one of the slip is the predicted victory of AA Gent against KV Mechelen, who did beat Westerlo last weekend with 4-1.

The Belgian Jupiler League Special:3 matches from the Belgian Jupiler League. STVV, the champs of the second division play at home against Charlerloi. Charlerloi is already facing 3 suspensions after the 3 red cards of last weekend. STVV have a good balanced team, who will, with the support of the supporter puzzle up Charlerloi.
Westerlo, was surprisingly beaten by KV Mechelen last weekend. Ceulemans is counting on his players to send out a message that it was just a combination of unfortunate events.
Anderlecht should have no problems with cercle Brugge at home.

So 4 euros at stake for the weekend. Hoping on a better result than last week.

What a bad start of the season. I ran into almost all surprises, bugger.

I could live with the fact that Standard Liege did not win against standard, missing 2 penalties in the 90th minute. But I was really surprised by the ass kicking Genk and AZ received.

Luckily, unibet always had bonus offer at the start of the season. This time it was a 20% reload bonus. So I did deposit my planned 50 euros, to see 60 euros added to my BR.

So up to the midweek European matches.

I have been waiting on it for weeks but finally the Belgian Jupiler League and the Eredivisie starts. So time for the first bets of the season. This weekend I will be betting the Belgian Jupiler League special, a twin, a triple and one quadruple.
So the total investment for this weekend will be 4 euros. No Supertoto XL this weekend, so no supertoto for me! Like always, all slips are 1 euro bets.

The Belgian Jupiler Special (aka BJS)
The BJS will contain 3 games this weekend. The first game kicks off on Friday when champion Standard Liege will face the newcomer STVV. I don't expect any problems for Standard, which kept almost their complete team intact.
The next game is Roeselare - GBA. I expect a good start of GBA. Last year they missed their start completely but with some good winter transfer to easily kept away from relegation danger. I predict a difficult season for Roeselare. My prediction Roeselare will start the new season with 0 points. I expect at least a 2 goal different victory for GBA, with at least one goal for Macdonald.
Last game in this slip is KRC Genk - Mouscron. While Genk always has up and downs, they showed potential in the super cup and shouldn't have any problem with Mouscron.
Standard Liege, Germinal Beerschot and KRC Genk -> 3.99

The twins
In the twin slip, one safe bet and one with a little more risk but one where I believe in. The safe bet is a home win of Feyenoord. The legion is expecting a much better season than last season. The risky part is the predicted win of Zulte Waregem on Lokeren. Zulte did not loose in the pre season games, score 28 goals and only conceived 8. Lokeren will start building a new team, while the first team of Zulte remained almost intact.
Feyenoord and Zulte Waregem -> 4.71

The Tripled
3 Dutch games in this slip. I do expect an easy home win for PSV an easy victory for AZ on Heracles and a little more risky victory for Ajax on Groningen. All very possible and put them together and youhave really nice odds.
PSV, AZ and Ajax -> 3.40

The Quadruple
More or less a safe quadruple. 2 games from Belgium where I expect the 2 big favorites for the title will win their first game of the season easily.
The 2 other games or from the Dutch eredivisie. Where Heereveen should have no problem with Roda at home. Roda did loose quality during the transfer season and without fresh blood they will face a hard and long season. FC Twente should take the victory at Sparta. Twente easily should end in the top 3 and to achieve this, there is no other option than taking the 3 points in Sparta.
Standard Liege, Anderlecht, FC Twente and Heereveen -> 3.92

Betting plan 2009-2010

The football season is knocking on the door. So it is time to set up my betting strategy for this season.
Last season I doubled my BR and so that’s my goal for next season.

All my best will be placed at Unitbet, my preferred bookie.

First my general rules:
• I will only play combos and the supertoto.
• All my bets will be 1€ bets.
• The maximum ticket price for the supertoto will be 1.60€.
• I will stay of the season bets for the moment. Maybe during the winter break when I have a better funded BR I will place some.
• The starting BR for this season will be 50€.
• Only 1 fun combo per week!
• The maximum ante per week will be 6.60€.
• My season starts at the 31st of July and end after the World cup 2010. (If my BR allows it)

My betting plan:
There will 3 types of bets I will be playing. The combo (mostly on football) betting, the football supertoto and the fun combo.
Sometimes I will sidestep to different sports like Tennis or the F1. But 90% off all bets will be football related.

The fun combo:
Once a week I will be playing a fun combo. This is a betting slip with 12 bets (the maximum @ Unibet) combined. The bets will be covering all kinds of sports. I’m hoping that I can combine 2 or 3 successful fun combos. Which if I succeed will be enough to assure a profitable season.

The Weekend bets:
During a regular football weekend I will play the following combos:
The Belgian Jupiler League special, which will cover 2 to 3 games of the Jupiler League. This is the competition of my country, so I expect a lot of these bets.

The multi country special: This betting slip will contain 1 game of each of the big European football competitions (Premier League, Serie A, Bundesliga, La Ligue 1, La primera division) completed with games for the Dutch Eredivisie and the Belgium Jupiler League.

The twins: It is what it says it is. A combo of 2 games from the 7 competitions above. In general this will be a more risky ticket, with a pay-out of around 2€.

The triplet: Same as the double but this time with 3 games.

The quadruple: This slip will contain 4 games. In contrast to the double I will play more rather safe games here. The question is what you consider a rather safe. This will be most of the time home games of the big favourites of 1 of the 7 competitions.

The supertoto XL or XXL: 14 games in this ticket. The biggest advantage is that a ticket costs only 0.10€. The pot is divided among the players who have 11 to 14 correct predictions on their ticket. The matches on the ticket are most likely games from the Premier League, Serie A and La Primera Division. The matches are played on Saturday and Sunday. I will play one ticket of 1.60€, meaning that I can tick 5 boxes extra.

The midweek bets:
If it is a regular midweek with no European games. It will be the same as the weekend bets.
If it is a midweek full of European matches. I will place the following bets:
The septet: Will only be played in the beginning of the season when there are enough European matches to choose from.
The triplet: 2 per midweek with 3 European matches.

The stats:
Of course I will record my statistics, so you can see how safe a type of bet can be followed (or not!).

Jupiler League Preview 2009

2 weeks to go and the new football season begins in Belgium. And it will be a real fresh start. The competition has been revised to increase top games, generate more income from the TV rights and decrease the number of teams within the top league.

From this season on there will be only 16 teams in the Belgium Jupiler League. The season is also split in two parts. In part 1 all teams play in a regular home and away format against each other. At the end of this part. The competition is played further in 3 play-off leagues. The top 6 will play the champion play-offs. All teams will take 50% of their earned points to this. The winner of this play-off is the Champion of Belgium. The second will play the qualification for the CL, the third will get rewarded with a ticker for the EL. Number 4 will play an elimination match against the winner of the other 2 play-off leagues for the remaining EL tickets.

The numbers 7 to 14 are divided into 2 separate play-off leagues. No points are taken from the regular competition. Both winners of the league will play each other and the winner will face number 4 of the champions play-offs for the remaining EL tickets.

Number 15 will play a promotion/relegation play-off with the number 2, 3 and 4 of the Exqui league.
Number 16 will relegate to the second division.

So that's the format. Now let's have a look at the major transfers.
Well to be honest there aren't any. Although it is quiet a surprise that Champion Standard Liege (at the moment) only lost 1 key player. (Onyewu to Ac Milan) But the transfer window is still open until the end of August so a lot can happen.
No big names are moving in Anderlecht. Club Brugge did buy Donk, but if that is the biggest transfer in Belgium the crisis is really hitting the competition hard.
These 4 teams will probably reach the champion play-offs.

For the other 2 places it will be a fight between Genk, GBA, Westerlo and Zulte Waregem.

The 2 candidates for the title are of course Standard Liege and Anderlecht. Both teams are more or less unchanged. I favor Anderlecht a little bit more. Standard will loose some points in the beginning due to the CL.
The outsiders are Gent and Club Brugge. The question is how Gent can replace Ruiz, who has been sold (on request) to FC Twente. Club Brugge has to make up for a lost year but I don't believe they will with an almost unchanged team.

At the bottom it is really hard to favor a team for relegation. STVV, the second division champions, have a real small squad. Mouscron still has financial problems and Roeselare lost MacDonald to GBA.

I'm still waiting if Unibet will offer bets on which team will play which play-off.

Cav will not win tomorrow! Roddick will take a set!

Shit happens. I was to focused on registering for two fantasy games I'm participating in.
So what did happen today? Well Cancellara did what everybody was expecting from him. He won the first TT of the TDF 2009 with supremacy.

Serena won wimbledon. Not a surprise for me but this is easy said knowing the score. I was planning to place a bet on her but shopping had a higher priority.

My favorite Italian restaurant is for sale. Bummer!!!

Let's take a look at tomorrow bets.
Wimbledon
Well that's an easy one. Federer will win but not as easy as everybody is expecting. Unibet is offering odds of 1,12 for a win for Federer and 6.40 for a Roddick surprise.
I think that more value can be obtained in set betting. I expect that Roddick with his powerful serve will take at least one set. The odds on a victory for Federer with 3-1 or 3-2 are much more appealing that just betting on the victory.
I have placed a bet on both 3-1 (3.40) and 3-2 (8.50), so if Roddick does what I expect from him then I'm making a profit.

Tour de France
Everybody is expecting a first bunch sprint and a victory for Cavendish. But I'm not so sure. The course contains 4 climbs of 4th category and a small steep hill at 10km for the finish. I expect a crazy start with cause some riders do want to take that Yellow Jersey, this will cost Cav some power. Remember he is the lesser climber of the sprinters. Also the steep hill at 10km for the finish is an excellent opportunity for a new break away (if the bunch is intact at the moment). So I'm not betting on Cav the odds are in my eyes just not good enough.

TDF preview part 3: The king of the mountains.

Well I guess you expected the chicken with the golden eggs. Finally somebody who knew who the real contenders were for this competition.

Well I have to let you down. I really have no clue. In the old days it was easy you could safely bet on Virenque. Another safe bet was that the king of the mountain would be caught within 1 or 2 year on doping (Rasmussen, Kohl, Virenque, etc…).

If I look at the odds of most bookmakers, Moncoutie is the only favorite followed by a bunch of climbers. With odds of 3.75 it isn’t such a crazy bet. Don’t forget that he came second in the king of the mountains competition during the Dauphine.

But bookmakers also say the Contador will take the Polka dot jersey home. I personally don’t believe this. GC contenders normally only attack at the last mountain of the stage and most of the time only if the stage ends on top of the mountain. This year there are 3 such stages.

Of course there are always the outsiders like A. Schleck, Sastre, Gesink, Martin (both T and D.) and so on.
But this competition is too unpredictable to go into depth with a preview.

During the search for valuable content I did discover that luckily my Bookmaker is offering the best odds on the net. For sure if you for instance believe that Evans will win. Unibet odds on Evans are sometimes 50% higher than other bookies. So, remember that is not only important who to bet on, but also where to bet!!

TDF part 2: The green jersey!

Part 2 of the TDF preview. Today we will be looking at the potential winners of the green jersey.
First let’s take a look at the odds for the main players. This time in stead of 5, 7 contenders. At the moment it is still not sure if Tom Boonen is allowed to participate, Tuesday we will now more.

Look always, the odds come from Unibet.
Cavendish (Team Columbia) – 2.00
Freire (Rabobank) – 4.50
Bennati (Liquigas) – 6.00
Boonen (Quickstep) – 7.00
Hushovd (Cervelo) – 8.00
Haussler (Cervelo) – 22.00
Napolitano (Katuska)– 25.00

Cavendish:
At the moment probably the fastest sprinter based on pure speed and power. He also has learned to hang in there on small climbs. The best prove of this is his victory in Milan San Remo.
But he has never finished in Paris in the past 2 tours. Also, he is probably the lesser climber of all sprinters which can be dangerous.
On the positive side the course fits him like a glove with probably 5 or 6 bunch sprints. Don’t be surprised if he takes down at least 4 of them. (15 victories this year.)

Freire:
He is always there when a bunch sprint takes place. Maybe he doesn’t posses the pure speed to beat Cavendish, but there are 1 or 2 stages where he probably will take points for the jersey, while Cavendish is struggling to stay at the bunch. The finish in Barcelona is such a classic example. 2 victories this year.

Bennati:
He really wants that green jersey but that’s not enough. He is fast enough and is one of the sprinters who were capable of beating Cavendish. Maybe he can do this again this TDF. He also will have no problem getting through the high mountains. The problem is that he did have some health problems in the past year and probably didn’t have an excellent preparation for this years Tour. 3 victories this year.

Boonen:
It all will depend on the verdict of the French Supreme Court. If he is allowed to start he probably wants to prove what he can. But in pure speed he can’t overpower Cavendish. On the other hand he proved last Sunday that he is ready by winning, for the first time, the Belgian Championship. 4 victories this year.

Hushovd:
Certitude for the green jersey. Almost always ending in the top5 when it comes down to a bunch sprint and that’s how you win the jersey. Last year he ended second place but Freire has the course advantage. He also has a great lead out with Haussler but that also can be his disadvantage if he fails to get a decent result in the first 2 sprints. He can do it, but I don’t expect him to win the jersey. 4 victories this year.

Haussler:
The lead out for Cavendish but is for sure fast enough to win a bunch sprint if Cavendish is not available. He will only get chances when Hushovd fails or crashes. 4 victories this year.

Napolitano:
A real pure sprinter. Didn’t expect to go to the Tour this year but Steegmans didn’t sign the doping charter of the team. So Katuska did not select Steegmans and gave Napolitano the chance. He will end some times in the top 5 but I don’t see him winning a race or the green jersey. Just like Haussler don’t throw your money away. 3 victories this year.

My verdict:
If we are honest and look at the profile of the stages, there could only one big favorite for the green jersey and that’s mark Cavendish. But betting wise the odds are maybe to low for a 3 week race where a lot can happen. He will need to score a lot of points during the 4 potential bunch sprints because the high mountains will come soon this year. Maybe it is not the question if he survives them but how much energy will cost it to survive them. The best bet looks to be Freire or Hushovd. My money is on both of them.

Who will win the Tour de France 2009?

In the next week we will prepare ourselves for the Tour de France.
In this part we will focus on the potential winners and their odds. I will also try to explain why a rider can win it or why not.

The biggest problem is the length of the tour de France. It lasts 3 weeks in which a lot can happen (sickness, falls, etc…). Also we may not underestimate the doping ghost!

In all my posts I’m using the odds of Unibet.

Contador
Why will he win?
At the moment he is maybe the talented rider of the pack. Winning 2 years ago. Last year due to the team doping policy his team was not allowed to participate at the Tour.
He is riding for the best team and probably he of one of his teammates will take yellow after the team time trial. If so it will be though to get him out of the yellow.
Another reason why he will win is that the combined total of kilometer against the clock (not including the team time trial) is reduced to 56 km. I consider for instance Evans and Armstrong better riders against the clock.

Why not?
At Astana he leads the team, but there are also others in the team, who already have won the tour of finished in the top 5. So, it is not sure that if he is having a bad day, the complete team will help him, because others will go for their own chances.
Armstrong will ride a better a better opening time trial and therefore will have a bonus on Contador.

Armstrong
Why will he win?
Well it is simple; he won his last 7 tours. (Still incredible)
He is a better rider against the clock than Contador. He is one of the best friends of Johan Bruyneel. He did ride the Giro as preparation and was getting better and better by the day. And last but not least he has the most tour experience of them all.

Why not?
His preparation was disturbed by a big crash, breaking his collar bone.
He is already 38 years old. If he wins, he will be the oldest rider to win the tour.
He is not the number one in the team, which is Contador.
He was out of competition for 3 years!

Schleck A.
Why will he win?
Well to be honest I don’t see Andy Schleck winning the tour. I do see him within the top 5. He did great last year, winning the white jersey and ending in 12th place overall. He could however profit from Cancellara in the TTT.
Probably he will win the Tour de France eventually, but I don’t expect it to be this year. Maybe in 2011.

Why not?
There are not enough finishes on the top of the mountains. Only 3.
He is a good time rider but not good enough.

Evans
Why will he win?
He is in good shape and after so many places this could his year. A good example of this is that he did beat Contador in the Dauphine.
No question about it, every one within the team has to ride for Cadel.

Why not?
His team. Pff, such a good rider but almost always alone in the mountains. Also he will loose a lot of time in the TTT. Probably too much to make up.

Menchov
Why will he won?
He did win the Giro so he is in good shape.

Why not?
He did win the Giro
Just like Evans he will loose time in the TTT.
He is not an attacking rider and will have to do this to capture the yellow jersey after the TTT.

My verdict:
Everybody thinks that Contador will win the Tour (look at the odds), but I think that there is bigger chance that he won’t. Better value bets will be Evans of even A. Schleck.
My buck will be one Evans, with a return of 13 to 1.

Hibernation?

Well this blog goes into hibernation once more. Why?
Well it is simple, at the moment I'm not placing any bets anymore. Had a bad streak and decided to sit it out without continuing to loose money. So I did withdraw all my money from my online bookie. I was probably to focused on winning money and did loose the fun part.
And like I said before sportsbetting is a hobby for me. So it should be fun. The winning money part is just an extra bonus.

I'm still playing on OLBG. Hey I even did win a price last month. I became third in the Football Pro Tipster league, good for 25 GBP. Not much but free money.

Besides OLBG, I did start to play poker again. No rules, just having fun. You can read about my adventures on Learning Texas Holdem Poker.

Looking forward to 2009

Normally people first look back at the previous year and afterward look forward to the next, well I will do it differently. Let’s take a look at my betting year 2009.

The start:
First we have to determine a starting bankroll for next year. At the moment I have a bankroll of 198€. Let’s be honest this is a dull figure to start with. So there are 2 options left (not a third cause a deposit is ruled out.
- Option 1: I will play some more bets this year hoping that my bankroll goes above 200. Not very likely cause there no more football games this year in the major European competitions.
- Option 2: I will bank some of my profit and start with a bankroll of 150€.

I will go for option number 2 for 2 reasons.
Reason 1: This would mean that I would have banked 100 euros in 2008, which is satisfying knowingly that I started with a miserable 50€ and reason number 2 is that this bankroll isn’t high enough to start taking to much risk but big enough to give a comfortable feeling. Everybody has it own comfort zone and 150 certainly is within mine.

The goals:
Well the absolute goal is to have fun and to give watching sports something extra. Another obvious goal is to make some profit. My first idea was to aim for an average profit of 25€ per month. But that would bring my total bankroll on 450€. So a better aim would be an ending bankroll of 500€ , which indicates an average profit of 29,16€ per month. Seems feasible to me but time will tell if it indeed was/is. But as long as my ending bankroll of 2009 is above my starting bankroll, the year will be a success.
A non related bankroll goal is that I should keeping track of statistics. And maybe extend it with a Supertoto part.

My betting rules for 2009:
I think that is is important to have some betting rules in place, where you should stick. Otherwise it is very easy to loose a lot of money when lady luck is against you. For me the next simple rules will go into order from January the 1^st 2009.

Rule 1: Combos
In general all my combination bets will have an ante of 1€. I have been playing with the idea to increase this but never executed these plans. I strongly believe in combination betting but not in increasing the ante for this betting type. In general a combination bet may never have an ante of more than 1% of your bankroll. The Risk of Ruin is simply to high for this betting type. Certainly in footballs 1x2 bets.

Rule 2: Single bets.
The golden rule for me will be that a single bet may not be higher than 5% of my bankroll. This rule is in place to prevent myself from panic betting. Once in a time taking a risk is not a problem, but an impulsive bet with an ante of higher than 5% of my bankroll is for me just out of range.

Rule 3: Supertoto
Cause I like to play the supertoto I also need a rule for this. When my bankroll is increasing I always want to bet more on the Supertoto than I should. Normally I will play with a 3,2€ ticket but in some situation I’m willing to take a higher risk. In these situation the following golden rule kicks in: A supertoto ticket may never cost more than 5% of my current bankroll, with a limit of 12,8€. Another Supertoto rule is that at least 75% of my supertoto tickets should be purchased before Wednesday midnight. This because Unibet gives a 10% discount. Suppose that I will play 40 tickets of 3,2€ and 75% of those tickets are purchased within the discount time frame, this would mean that I only will have to pay for 37 tickets. Sound like peanuts but every euro counts.

Well this is my way ahead. I hope the rules above will get me from going bankrupt and will bring me closer to my goal for 2009. It all depends on hit rate and ROI. After an analysis of my results in 2009 I can hopefully figure out what the best number of games in my combo bets are.

The Jupiler Pro League predictions

Last week I had 4 out of 6 correct. Not bad but it can be better. This evening there are again 6 games. Let's see if we can get them all correct.

AA Gent - KV Kortrijk: 1 (odds: 1,45)
Well normally Gent may not have any problems with defeating Kortrijk but the defense of Gent is the area were the problems are but is possible that these problems will switch to the offense with the injury of their topscorer Olufade. No selection problems for Kortrijk.
Last year Gent won 4-0 at home but that was a cup game. The odds for a Gent win are at the moment around 1,45. Good enough, I would say.

Dender - Lokeren: 2 (odds: 2,30)
When looking at the classification of both team, this should be a no-brainer. Lokeren has besides the best defense of the league also the topscorer. Maazou should be able to score against the second worst defense of the league. Last season Lokeren won with 0-1 and I see them stealing the 3 points at Dender. Also the odds for a win of Lokeren are gigantic, namely 2.30.

Genk - Charlerloi: OVER (odds: 1,65)
Genk always has problems against team from the french part of Belgium. Therefor I don't like the odds for a Genk win, they are only 1,48. Therefor I will play an over 2.5 goals bets, the odds for this bet are a little bit better with 1,65.

Tubize - Mons: OVER (Odds: 1,90)
All sign point into the direction of a victory for Tubize. Mons won last week 5-2 at home against Dender, while Tubize lost 5-1 at Anderlecht. A 1X bet would give odds of 1,48 while an over bet has a value of 1,90. Maybe this over bet is a safer bet. With Perbet in form at Tubize side and Jarju on the side of Mons a lot of goals can be expected.

Westerlo - Cercle Brugge: X2 (odds: 1,72)
A man this one is a though to one to call. Both teams are in shape. At Cercle De Sutter finally is starting to score goals, while Westerlo has with Ruiz the number 6 of the topscorer list. Westerlo still has to loose this season at home, while Cercle is struggling away from home with only 1 victory. For some reason I don't see Cercle loosing this game. So to be safe I going for a x2 bet, with odds of 1,72.

Zulte Waregem - Mouscron: 1 (Odds: 2,05)
Mouscron can't be actually called an away team and never they did steal the 3 points at Zulte. And I don't expect it to change this season. Also zulte will be motivated to win for the first time in the Jupiler Pro League 3 games in a row.

this gives a combined odd of 36,87.

Weekend Recap

It was a long time ago that I cashed with the Supertoto and this streak was broken last weekend. I had 2 tickets with 11 out of 14, good for 1,28 euro per ticket. So still a loss but beter than nothing.

I had 4 out of 6 in the Jupiler Pro League. The victory of Roeselare on Westerlo came as a complete surprise to me. The other incorrect prediction was the victory of Mons. This victory was probably but still I had a strong believe that Dender could take the 3 points home with them. Next weekend better, I hope. But like I said before. It is good enough to predict all these games correct 2 or 3 times a season to make a major profit.

Besides the supertoto I had 4 winning tickets, good for a pay-out of 29,53 euros, bringing my monthly profit on 12,91.

Jupiler Pro League Saturday games preview

Well after lady luck helped me last Saturday by granting me the wisdom to predict all 6 games of the Jupiler Pro league (Belgiums first division) correct, I did find maybe something useful to put on this blog. At last, it became time after 170 posts :).

From this week on I will try to predict all the Saturday games from the JPL. Last week 1 euro was good for a pay-out of 57,90 euros. So I complete the season without any worries. I also can cope with the fact that it will probably only happens 2 or 3 times a season that I can manage this. I hope that I can fund this fun thingy with the profit from the other bets and that with this I can give the world some more inside information from the JPL.

To increase my odds I will allow myself to use all types of bets!

Well there are 6 games this saturday.
Anderlecht - Tubeke: over 2.5 (odds: 1,40)
Well this is maybe the easiest one to predict this matchday. Anderlecht (2) will should have no problems with Tubize (14). They have never faced each other before in the JPL. It is also the game of the best defense against the worst defense of the league. To increase the odds I will go for the over 2.5 goals bet, good for an odd of 1.40 instead of 1.13 for an Anderlecht win.

Germinal Beerschot - Mouscron: 1 (odds: 2,20)
This game has been played already 9 times before and GBA did win 5 of these encouters, loosing 2 and drawing another 2. Last season when GBA was playing on a cloud, they beat Mouscron with 3-0. This season is another story for GBA, currently firmly on a relegation place while Mouscron is one of the relevation (6th). But Mouscron isn't an away team. I could on the Antheunis effect, which could take effect any moment now! GBA will win!

Standard Liege - Zulte Waregem: over 2.5 (odds: 1,57)
Standard, third, will face Zulte Waregem at home. This is a game with always someting happening. Standard will see some negative influence of the splendid victory against Sampdoria, while Zulte is trying to break the negative spiral of outgames (lost their last 2). In normal conditions standard should win this easely but I would put a dime on it with odds of 1,30 for a win. The odds for over 2.5 goals is more appealing (1,57).

Roesalare - Westerlo: x2 (odds: 1,30)
Westerlo is currently standing on a fifth place, well above expectations, Roeselare is currently last, a little bit below expectations. In the last 3 encouters the scores were: 0-2, 2-0 and 0-2. So according to the pattern I should go for a win of Roeselare. But I will be going for a draw or a victory for Westerlo. Westerlo has a well balanced team with all decent players and some young rising stars like their striker, Ruiz, who will score at least once. You could also go for a win of Westerlo, which will increase the odds to 2,15.

Mons - Dender: 2 (odds: 3,35)
Ever before the season everybody already knew that this is a relegation game, or like we call it in Belgium a 6 points game. The gap in the league is also 3 points in favor of Dender. Mons fired their head coach this week after a discussion with one of their star player. So the players of Mons are will motivated to prove to the interim coach and the possible head coach for the remainder of the season that there are worth their place on the pitch. Still I'm going to put my money on dender, maybe they have lesser quality in their team but a much better/experienced coach, wich is much more important in such games.

Charlerloi - KV Mechelen: x2 (odds: 2,03)
KVM is struggling this season, but praise to their board, who are keeping to defend the head coach. But the head-to-head stats are against them, loosing 5 out of 6. Last season the game ended on 1-0 for Charlerloi, but this season I see KVM going home with 3 points. To cover my ass a little bit I will go for x2, which has a decent odd of 2,03.

The combined odds for this combe are 42,96. As always my bet is a 1 euro bet.
I also have created an alternative, which is more based on my heart then on stats and info. The combined odd of this is 444.

November 2008 Recap

To be honest: well I didn't deserve a profit this month but the betting slip on the left did turn a loss of over 50 euros into a profit of 4,something euros. I also have to admit that it was placed in Tilt mode. But a win is a win!

November started of great with 3 winning tickets to continue into a real betting nightmare. Bankers failed to win, resulting into a loosing streak, resulting into a spiral of badly placed bets etc...

In total I placed 93 bets and only 16 of these were winners, that's a miserable 17,20%. 7% below my average. But the thing that bothered me the most was that my combos with 3 games failed, weekend after weekend. Only 2 correct out of 14 played and that's only 8,33%. 21% below average. Have to create these combos with more care next month.

On the positive side, this was the first month that I made a profit with my 4 games combos.
Like each month the Supertoto was my biggest loosing pot, good for a loss of 17,62 euros. Which brings the total Supertoto loss a little bit above 26 euros. But I will still continue to play it. I love them to much. But I hope that next month I can present better results than: 9/14, 10/14, 7/12, 8/14, 7/14, 5/10 and 7/14.

In total I have wagered now 288,36 euros and received 449,30 euros. So still a pretty decent turnover.
November on itself was good for an ante of 119,14 euros. Which is the biggest ever. Will try to decrease this a little bit.

I did also cash some money in November. I banked 55 euros. Getting my initial deposit + 5% back. Placing my playing bankroll on 135 euros and my total bankroll on 190 euros. Close to the 200 euros, and this will be the target to end to year.

I will update my stats page somewhere this week. Don't know when cause I will be pretty busy with work, a training course, indoor football and last but certainly not least my 3 months old son!

On the OLBG side, I was in the running until the last day for a paid place in the NHL competition. But I will end just out side the places. The most important thing here is that I did end with a profit. So 2 months more to go.

Last chances to turn things around

Well the month is not even finished and I already can declare this my worst betting month ever.
I did place my bets for today already and probably will place 3 others tomorrow.
To try to make up my losses I gad to place a fun combo with combined odds of 32. If this one is correct it will bring my losses into an acceptable area but to be honest I don't count on it cause I'm into a spiral of loosing bets.

The only thing that can save my months is the supertoto but last week I had only 6 correct out of 14.
Looks I'm into spiral of losses, I hope I turn things around next month!

Weekend recap

Another loosing weekend, the so many in a row. But on the positive side, the loss was less than the previous weekends.

First things first. I again did loose my preparation, probably I will find it again some where next week. I decided to decrease the number of bets. With my preparation I have planned to bet 5 combos, 1 single and the already placed Supertoto. It became 7 combos and the supertoto, good for an ante of 8,44 euros. I got one combo correct and an was decreased to a single bet due to bad weather, good for a pay-out of 6,08 euros. So a loss of 2,42 euros for the weekend. Bringing my monthly loss on 28,36 euros.

On the supertoto side I was thinking that it was impossible to do worse than last week but I managed to do it. Only 7 correct out of 14. The draws of Chelsea, Liverpool and Barcelone were a complete surprise.

This month I placed 64 bets but only 12 came out as a winner. That's a miserable 18,75%, which is below my season average which is 24,81%. As usual the biggest part of my loss is cause by the Supertoto, with an ante of 13,92 euros and no winners.

On the olbg front I'm still making a profit, but it is going to be difficult to end on one of the paid places. I'm standing 6th in the NHL table, but already 1000 pounds behind. In the other tables I'm not within the first 250 places. But I have to remind myself that it is more important to end with a profit.

This midweek there are CL games and the UEFA cup group matches. Watch out with the teams who are already qualified for the next round.

The loosing streak continues

And the title says, again it wasn't a good weekend. At the moment even the most simple combos fail. some of my combos for this weekend were risky but there were also very feasible ones but always at least one team didn't do what I expected.

The prevent going bankrupt I banked my initial deposit + 5% of it. Maybe my bets became to risky due to a bigger bankroll than normal. To put myself back with my 2 feet on the ground I did the banking action I hope that this will help.

Also on the OLBG front it was a lousy weekend I drop 50 places in the central European table and lost my top 3 place in the NHL table. But still half a month to go. The most important thing is that I end the month with a profit if I want to be a pro tipster in January.

I hope that my next post will be a more positive one. I still have 2 weekend in November to make up my momentarily loss of 25 euros. Maybe I should fall back to single bets. I'll see.

Weekend Recap

Well it was a loosing weekend. Bugger. First of all I lost me prepared bets, so I had to create new ones. And those new bets were bad. Only one good combo (Sunday evening I found the sheet again and it appears that it also would have been a loosing weekend with the initial bets) good for 6 euros. Which resulted in a loss of around 10 euros.
Also on the supertoto front it was a bad weekend. As usual I had 10 out of 14 correct. Again close but no sigar! Still waiting on that big win :).

On the OLBG front everything is going fine. I'm standing fourth in the central European table (top 3 paid) and third in the NHL table (top 3 paid). Beside that I only need two profitable months. If I can achieve this in the next 4 months, I will be a pro tipster for at least one month. And that is were the big money is.
We will see how this will evolve.

This midweek a lot of cupgames will be played. So a chance the recover some losses. For today I have placed 3 combos and one fun combo for today and tomorrow (if it is still valid tomorrow).

At the moment I'm around 10 euros down for the month. Time to turn things around.

Bankroll is still very healthy at 170 euros. The aim has been decreased and I hope to brake the 200 euro barrier before 2009 kicks in.

Where to go from here?

Well it has nothing to do with sports betting cause I like my progress and the raise of my bankroll. It has more to do with this blog.

Like all bloggers I had big dreams for my blog. But to all good things come an end. It's strange but the motivation and drive I had in the beginning have vaporised. If I was a loosing playing this would lay within the line of expectations but I'm a winning one. The main reasons are probably the low visitor numbers and the lack of comments. And we all have to admit that recognition is always nice to receive. Like a mastercard add, it's priceless.

But I will not give up this blog too much effort have been put into it already. It will just not post my bets anymore but will follow the mainstream of betting blog and will just announce my results, look for reasons for my loosing bets and spread other betting news. I must admit that I hope for more interaction with my blogging strategy of posting my bets in advance but I guess that nobody is using them or even look at them. So why bother in posting them and putting so much effort in it?

I know that it is difficult to stand up and get noticed in this big internet world, with enough betting blogs, sites and forums. Getting a blog noticed is so much more difficult then writing good comment (not claiming that the content here on this miserable blog is good or even mediocre).

Weekend recap and CL bets

Due to a cold I did not post my bets for last weekend. Not that anybody are using them but still.
I even didn't prepare my bets as normal. I just logged in on Saturday and Sunday morning and placed my bets. But never less it was a success. A profit of 7.10 euros. And this thanks to one successful combo of 4 games, with a combined value of 18,30 euros. In total I played 8 combos and the Supertoto 14. This last one again without success. I have to evaluate the Supertoto at the end of the month if it is still worth playing.

The bankroll is steadily increasing and reached 193 euros. Which is not bad considering that I started with 50 and only play 1 euro bets. When my bankroll will break the 200 barrier I will increase my bets with 0,25 euros. While the increase seems marginal it is a increase of 25%, which seems substantial. I will stick to this new ante until my bank drops below 175 or it reaches above to 250, what ever comes first.

This midweek there is a lot of action on the field with the 4th round of the CL and the second match day of the UEFA groups.
I plan to play 2 combos on Tuesday and Wednesday and 3 or 4 on Thursday.

Here are my CL bets:

Combo 1:
Based on the away win of Bordeaux at CFR CLUJ, the walkover of Inter over Famagusta and last but not least the revanche of Marseille on PSV. This with a combined odd of 9.13.

Combo 2:
A little bit less risky with predicted wins of Liverpool (against Atl Madrid) and Werder Bremen (against Panathinaikos). Combined odds 2.24.

Combo 3:
The home win of Real Madrid against Juventus and the away win from Zenith at Bate. Good for a combined odd of 3.01.

Combo 4:
This one exists of 3 games all with relatively low odds. I hope that Villarreal will have no problems with AaB, that Lyon will be capable of beating Steaua Bucaresti at home and that Arsenal will keep the three points at home against Fenerbache. If all this falls into place I will get 2.47 euros.

October Recap

Well October was a good month. It wasn't great but just good. I made a profit of 26 euros.
In total I placed 77 bets (Supertoto not included) and 24 of these 77 bets were winning bets.
The total ante for October was 95,52 euro. The 24 winning bets and the supertoto were good for a pay-out of 121,8 euros.
The difference between becoming a good and great month is the lack of a winning fun combo. September was a great month due to such a fun combo, but on the other hand only 15% of my combo were winning ones, while in October 31% of my bets were winning bets. So my betting is improving!
The most money was won with the combos of 3 games and 5 games. I made a loss with my funcombos and the combo of 4 games.

My Bankroll is steadily growing. The aim for November is to bring it above 200 euros so that in December I can increase my bets for 1 euro bets to 1,25 euro bets.

Weekend bets

My bets for the Uefa Cup assured me a profit for the midweek games. A 12 euro profit on Thursday, made up the small loss of Wednesday. Even better for the first time the bank showed a figure above 180. Still 20 to go before I will increase my bets to 1,25 until the bank drops below 175. So 20 bets as a trial.

Weekend recap and CL bets

It had to come one day cause my results were against all statistics. Last weekend I made a loss!!! I lost, you will be reading it correctly, 1.95 euros!!
And there is only one to blame and that's me. Due to the fact that I failed to make 1 winning combo this weekend with one to go, I created 3 new ones. Without these the profit would have been 1.05 euros. So, lesson learned once again.
For once the supertoto minimized the losses. I had 2 tickets with 12 out of 14, good for 2.10 euros per ticket, and 4 tickets with 11 out of 14. To bad that so many peeps had 11 out of 14, good enough for a pay-out below 1 euro and accordingly no pay-out.
With the CL games and the first match day of the UEFA cup poules, there are plenty of chances to bend the curve into the good direction again. For the CL games I have 6 euros vail, for the UEFA cup games another 5 and probably I will create a Supertoto (depends on the costs).

After a winning weekend I also hope that I can make another profit with the WC qualification games. I took a gamble with the supertoto. For this midweek toto there are 10 games and only to the top 2 scores will get paid. Price per ticket is 0,25 euro. Her is my ticket.

Also I made as usual some combo. I did want to add Belgium to one of the combo cause I have the strange feeling that they are going to win against Spain, so I played it as a single.

Weekend recap

A winning weekend! Not all bets have been settled. It can become an even better weekend if Equador will beat Chili. In that case the profit will be 10.56 euro! Without the unsettled bet the profit number stands at 10.56 euros. Not bad for an ante of only 13,24 euro. A much bigger payout than the stock exchanges are paying out.

The supertoto was also going fine unfortunately it was going good for more peeps. 13 out of 14 correct was good for a miserable 1,69 euros.

The combo with the most profit was a six folded combo, good for a pay-out of 8,42 euros. Besides that a single, a double and a triple combo was correct!

Looking forward to the midweek WC qualification games!

The tittle more or less covers it all. During the weekend I was close to another giant win but the draw between Gent and Lokeren ruined a 1 euro combo with combined odds of 86 euros. Bugger.

Yesterday I clicked again the wrong button. I had a combo of 5 tennis games and did want to place a 1 euro bet but I typed to 1 euro in the fourfold combo, meaning that I did place 5 euros for 5 fourfold combos. Luckily for me the combo was correct, so a profit of 16 euros. Giving my BR a boost, which enables me to take some risks during the interlands this weekend!

Now that I removed the idea that I will explain all my bets in front, I feel relieved :). I will still post my weekend bets in front, but my midweeks bets not anymore.

Weekend bets

At the moment the profit for the month is 3 euros. That's 1 euro a day :)
Made a small loss with the CL and a small profit with the Eufa cup. It was good to see that both Belgian teams won.

Here are my bets for this weekend. For one or the other reason the combined odds are lower than normal. Also a win on the Supertoto would be nice.

September recap

Well September was not bad. I made a profit of 118 euros. Which is not bad considering my 1 euro bets. My BR was lifted from 38 euros to 156 euros.

My biggest profit with one combo was around 111 euros.
With the supertoto I made a small loss of 1 euro.
In total I made 52 combo bets and 8 of them were winners, that's only 15.38%. Which could be better but remember that it is more difficult to make a winning combo with enough profit than playing a single bets. Single bets can be very profitable but only when you BR is big enough and mine isn't.
Cause this is the first month that I did record my bets, I don't have benchmark figures.

So, the stats are still very basic.

Weekend Recap: Profit made

First let's take a look at the downside of the weekend.
I made a loss of 5 euros by trying some live betting. When Werder Bremen was up 4-1 I made my first mistakes, the second was made when Bremen got a red card and Hoffenheim scored the 4-4! Lesson learned stay of Live Betting!!!!

On the combo side, I had 3 winning combos out of 8. Good for a combined weekend profit of 28,71 euros, the losses on live betting included! For me, and probably for a lot of us, the surprise of the weekend was the loss of Arsenal against Hull City. Combo 2 on Saturday didn't had a chance with the unexpected loss of Hertha and the draw of Juventus.
Sunday, I made the mistake to have faith in Tottenham, I had the idea that they could turn things around but they are in a down spiral! This error screwed up one combo, the other one didn't had a chance with 2 games out of 3 incorrect!

The plans for next week. I will play the uefa cup SuperToto and Supertoto 15. Supertoto 15 has to be played before Thursday so that I am entitled to the 10% discount Unibet is offering. I will made 4 combos for the CL. 2 for Tuesday and 2 for Wednesday. Probably I will play 4 combos on the uefa cup. And then the weekend is again knocking on the door.

Sunday bets

I can't complain about my postedbets. 11 out of 14 games were correct. Good for 2 winning combos and a payout of 8,75 euros. So if I wouldn't have lost 5 euros today with live betting (Thx Werder Bremen) and if I wouldn't have mis clicked when I did register my first sunday combo, it would have assured a profitable weekend.

Make sure that you look on the net for the goal from Dembele from AZ. What a beauty!

So here we go with the Sunday bets:
Starting with the lowest combined odds.

Combo 1: Combined Odd: 7,84 -> Lost
Teams involved: KRC Genk and Tottenham
Yepm this one is tricky. Genk cannot afford to loose another game but they will face Mouscron and for some reason or the other they always have it difficult against them. Never less I'm confident that they will take 3 points home. The some lines are valid for Tottenham. They can't keep loosing or can they?

Combo 2: Combined odd: 17,38 ->Lost
Teams involved: Man. City, Napoli and Roda JC
Such high combined odds for a combo of only 3 games says it all. I have no doubt about Roda JC (away @ Sparta) and Manchester City (away @ Wigan). Napoli is another story. But at the moment they are in third place in the Serie A, while Bologna is third from the bottom so it is possible.

Combo 3: Combined odd: 39,40 -> Won
Teams involved: Lecce, Palermo, Ajax, Almeria and Valencia.
Don't be fooled by the odds. I place my bet per accident as a quintet. Meaning that it are more or less 5 combos of 4. Meaning that if one teams doesn't win I still make a profit on the other hand if 2 teams fail to do what I predict I do loose 5 euros. Lecce plays at home against Cagliari (last in the serie A) and Palermo plays against Reggina (second from the bottom). Ajax should win at home against Vitesse, while Valencia should be capable of beaten Deportivo at home. The last game in this strange combo is Almeria @ home against Huelva.

The midweek bets did cost me some money and it's the last weekend of September. At the moment I still have green figures. The total ante for this weekend is 9,44 euros. Meaning that I will always end the month with a profit of 77 euros, which are excellent figures for an average ante of 1 euro.

So here we go with the Friday bet:

Friday Combo: Combined odd: 2,96 -> Lost
Teams involved: Schalke 04 and RSC Anderlecht
Schalke 04 plays away at Fc Koln. Koln still have to impress me and I hope that they will not excel this weekend. The other game is Standard Liege vs RSCA Anderlecht. The two big favorites for the Belgium title. I will play an X2 for this game. Anderlecht is out on revenge after the chance less defeat during the Supercup. Standard probably will already have the Uefa cup against Everton in the back of their mind, willingly or not! Therefor I will bet on X2.

Saturday Combo 1: Combined odd: 3,12 -> Won
Teams involved: FC Twente, Aston Villa and Werder Bremen
I decided to add some more safe combo during the weekend and this is my first one. The most difficult game to predict is the one between Werder Bremen and Hoffenheim. Hoffenheim currently is second in the Bundesliga, while Werder is standing on spot number 7. Both teams are in form but I'm giving Werder more chance. Twente will face De Graafschap at home, which doesn't have a strong out reputation, thats why my money is on FC Twente. The last game is Aston Villa vs Sunderland. Call it a gut feeling.

Saturday Combo 2 : Combined odd: 4,31 -> Lost
Teams involved: Hamburger SV, Manchester United, Arsenal, Club Brugge and Lyon
5 matches and only an odd of 4,31 says enough I guess. This combo is based on 5 big teams playing at home. A surprise is always possible but the all these teams should be more than capable of keeping the three points at home! To be complete all the games: Hamburger SV - Gladbach, Man U - Bolton, Arsenal - Hull City, Club Brugge - Westerlo and Lyon - Nancy.
Edit: WTF, Arsenal did loose at home against Hull City. Didn't see this coming. Bugger.

Saturday Combo 3: Combined odd: 6,93 -> Lost
Teams involved: Hertha BSC, AZ and Juventus
The most dangerous game is this rather risky combo is Willem II - AZ. My money is on AZ. They gave an excellent performance last weekend against PSV. I know they have the quality but they are not consistent enough but I'm sure that they will take the 3 points back home to Alkmaar. Hertha should not have any problems with Cottbus, last in the Bundesliga. Juventus on the other hand will win in Sampdoria.

Saturday Combo 4: Combined odd: 5,62 -> Won
Teams involved: Auxerre, Villareal and Real Madrid
I think that I don't have to explain why I pick Villareal, away against Sporting Gijon, and Real Madrid, away at Betis. Auxerre is hopefully my accumulator for this combo. They will face Le Havre at home. Early in the season already a relegation match, if Auxerre wants to prologue their stay in Ligue 1 they will have to win these games at home!

Last minute bet

Just placed a last minute bet. And it is for my norms an outrageous bet this because:
A: the ante is 5 euro
B: it is not a combo.

Unibet is offering a odd of 2,15 if Wesley Sonck scores. I consider this a value bet! Why? Cause Sonck is at moment in really good shape. Bailly of Genk did some magical thing to withheld Sonck from his first goal of the season. Secondly Akpala, his partner is crime is suspended. Thirdly: I consider Club Brugge at lost stronger then KV Mechelen and I expect some free kicks for Club Brugge, which are excellent chances!

Come on Wesley don't let me down!

Wednesday bets

In both combo of Tuesday one 1 game wrong. To bad. Certainly surprised about Nantes. Most of the times the cup is an excellent chance for the teams in the bottom places of Ligue 1 to gain some confidence. And Frankfurt had an excellent chance, but they missed a penalty in the last minute to win the game but thats gambling!

For Wednesday again 2 combos. Both with a high pay-out so it is a gamble. Also due to time constraints no explanation. Sorry!

Tuesday bets and Supertoto Euro Mix

I prepared 2 combos for this evening. Within lots of countries this midweek, without CL and Uefa cup games, is used for the national cups. Besides this I also filled in an extra Supertoto Euro mix, all with games played on Wednesday, and Supertoto 14. This Supertoto was filled in today to make sure that I could profit from the 10% cashback.

Here we go:

Combo 1: combined odds: 4,81
Teams involved: AZ, FC Den Bosch, Nantes and Werder Bremen
AZ is confident after their win over PSV and they will continue this line this evening against Heracles. Fc Den Bosch is one of the tittle candidates in the Dutch Jupiler league, I expect nothing else than a home win. Nantes and Werder Bremen have away games. Bremen has an easy game against Ezgebirge and Nantes will play at Cretiel, both feasible teams for the team from the Bundesliga.

Combo 2: combined odds: 3,28
Teams involved: Eintracht Frankfurt, Arsenal and Manchester United
Arsenal and Man U should have no problems with beating Sheffield United and Middlesbrough. Frankfurt has to face Hasta Rostock, 9th in the second Bundesliga, at home. Frankfurt still has to win a home game this seasin and I hope that they achieve this today!
Edit: Over before it all started. Frankfurt missed a penalty in the last minute. Fuckers, lol!

Weekend Recap!

Well let’s start with the most important thing, I made a profit and besides that I had a lot of fun. And let’s be honest that what it’s all about. In total I made a profit of 11,76€ with. Good figures!

The start on Friday was excellent with one combo played and one combo won.

The success story continued on Saturday. The downside was that only one of the three combos was a winner but on the positive side the winning combo has the highest combined odds of the 3. It could have been better but Groningen started with a red card in the second minute. The fought back and were withheld a penalty in the last minute, which could have given them the win and some more profit for me.

On the supertoto side also everything was going good enough with 6 correct games out of 7.

Sunday was a little bit of a cooler. The fun combo has an excellent start but Everton crushed it, so the Marseille wasn’t important anymore (luckily). Tottenham, yep Tottenham again, blew the second combo, while my fourth combo was chance less (0 out of 3). The last combo (3) for Sunday wasn’t so bad but Sevilla weren’t capable of taking the 3 points home.

On the SuperToto side, I had 2 more games incorrect, so I ended up with 2 tickets of 11 out of 14, good for a pay-out of 1,16€ per ticket (not enough cause the investment was 3,20€). Congrats to the one who cracked the supertoto. He/She was the only one with 14 correct games, good for a pay-out above 112.000€.

I was hard not to create another combo for the Sunday evening games but this is against me own rules. The rule says that I’m not allowed to create last minute combo cause most of the time, these bets are placed to recuperate lost money. To bad cause if would have been a winning combo. Maybe my combo for the Sunday games where to risky.

My betting plans for this week are quiet simple. Tonight and tomorrow I will concentrate on filling in the supertoto. Remember that a lot bookies give a 10% discount if you fill in the supertoto before Thursday, if you do this 10 times in a season you will have your 11^th supertoto for free. Also there is on extra Supertoto this week for the midweek games in Italy, England and Spain.

On Tuesday I will see if I'm going to make a combo of 2 for the midweek games and from Wednesday on I will concentrate on the weekend games.

I also hope that you all liked the way I presented the combos on Sunday, cause it is my intention to do it like this. So first a little explanation about the combo(s) to end with a picture if it is more than one combo! Feedback is appreciated, both on the combo and presentation.

Sunday bets

Had another profitable Saturday! Let's see if we can continue this line on Sunday. It will be though cause it are all risky combos but the profit for this weekend is already assured even if I don't have one winning combo!
Also there are still possibilities with the Supertoto. At the moment we are halfway and I have 6 out of 7 games correct. Only Arsenal did let me down. From the 7 games of tomorrow 3 of have them have 2 correct outcomes, so I am confident!

Let's take a look at the combos for Sunday! First I will give my explanation and at the bottom of the post, you will find all combos visualized (you can enlarge the picture by clinking it)!

Combo 1: Combined odds: 59,34
Team involed: Nancy, Marseille, De Graafschap, FC Twente, SC Heereveen and Everton.
This combo can be called my fun combo for the weekend. It includes 6 games and has a combined odd of 59,34. I can explain this one, it is just a gut feeling!

Combo 2: Combined odds: 9,11
Teams involved: Standard Liege, Barcelona, Sampdoria, Tottenham and Juventus
I think that this one has to most chance of being the winning combo. Okay, it includes 5 games but still it is a feasable one. Standard Liege should not have any problems with Tubize and Tottenham will have an excellent chance of winning their first game of the season. Also Barcelona is desperate for a win, so the away game to Gijon comes at a excellent time. Juventus has an away game at Cagliari, who are under pressure after loosing the first 2 games of the season. I think that Sampdoria has the key for this combo.

Combo 3: Combined odds: 8,87
Teams involved: AC Milan, Sevilla, Valencia and Fiorentina
Looking at the combined odds this combo should have to most chance to survive but the games still have to be played. After 2 games, AC Milan is still chasing their first win, heck they don't even have one point. I hope that Lazio will go home pointless. Fiorentina will host the game against Bologna. I expect that this game will be the key for this combo cause I expect nothing else than a victories from Valencia (against Osasuna) and Sevilla (away at Real Betis).

Combo 4: Combined odds: 29,04
Teams involved: PSG, Hoffenheim and Dortmund, Hamburger SV
Very high odds for a combo with only 3 games. PSG has a difficult away game to St Etienne but I think that they can take the 3 points home with them. There is a lot of pressure on St. Etienne and that would do them any good. Hamburg has the away game to Wolfsburg in front of them. Playing away at Wolfsburgs is never easy but with a victory Hamburger SV will see themselves back at the top of the league. The key to this combo is the expected draw between Hoffenheim and Dortmund. The gap between these teams is only one point at the moment. Normally I never bet on a draw but something tells me that an X is going to be correct.

Big, big, big wins

Sorry not to have posted my bets for the Uefa cup first round matches but it were last minutes bets and with a son of 24 days old it isn't always easy to do what you had planned.

I made around 10 combo, good for an ante of 22 euro. My complete BR. Okay, I admit I went a little bit overboard but it paid off big time!

At the moment 2 combos are already won and there is one very nice combo between them. My 1,80 euro became 101,80 euro. I predicted the wins of the following teams within 1 combo correctly: AC Milan, Spartak Moskou, Besiktas, Ajax, Saint Etienne, Braga, CSKA Moscow and Tottenham.
Another successful combo was the predicted win of Spartak Moscow, Galatasaray, Nancy, CSKA Moscos and Tottenham, good for a pay-out of 12,40 euro.

Valencia is winning and only a few minutes to go, which will means that I have 11 out of 12 correct games for the Supertoto. At the moment the pay-out is 4,99 euro but that will increase a little bit. And cause it was a ticket of 6,40 euro it will be multiplied by 2. So another little profit.

Needless to say that I look forward to the weekend.

First Round CL bets

Tomorrow the CL 2008-2009 kicks off. I have selected 7 games were I'm going to bet on. These games were selected without knowing the odds so there is a possibility that the pay-out will be lower than expected.
Also, there will probably very juicy odds for a home win of Marseille against Liverpool and for Atletico Madrid winning at PSV. But my gut feeling says to stay of these games, so I will.
Due to time constraint no explanation this time.
Also, as an expection I did put 1 euro on Tottenham for this evening. If they win I have one combo for free for tomorrow :).

Weekend 12/13/14 September bets

Here we go with the bets for this weekend. The WC qualification games did cost me some money. Maybe it will be better to stay of these in the future or to restrict the combos to 2 games.

For this weekend I'm feeling a little bit adventurous. I will be playing 5 combos. 3 combos with 4 games in it and 2 combos with 3 games. Only the first combo can be considered a safe one, the other 4 will have more risk involved. But it is time to bend the curve to a winning curve. No risk, no glory! And lets be honest all bets are a risk.

I will describe the combos below in risk order. The one with the lowest risk, and of course the lowest payout, at the top, the one with the most risk at the bottom. For once it will be not enough to have one combo correct, if Combo 1 is the only one.

Combo 1: combined odds: 2.96
Teams involved: Heereveen, Barcelona, Lyon, Inter
This combo already kicks off on Friday evening with the predicted victory of Heereveen at home against Heracles Almelo. All three other games are on Saturday evening. I expect that Barcelona will have no problems with Racing Santander. Lyon should be capable of waking over Nice and Inter will win their first home game of the season against Catania.
Edit: Heereveen failed to beat Heracles at home. After a blitz start it was 2-0 after 12 minutes. After missing one chance after the other on of the oldest football rules kicked in. We your team misses the chances the other won't.

Combo 2: combined odds: 5.01
Teams involved: Juventus, Bayern Munich, Sevilla, Anderlecht
Juventus host the game against Udinese and I just cannot imagine that Juventus will loose their first home game of the season against a team like Udinese. Anderlecht plays at Mons and will take the three poinst home with a victory with at least a 2 goal difference. Sevilla plays their first home game of the season against Sporting Gijon and will keep the points at home. Bayern Munich faces an always difficult out game at Koln. Koln always plays better against big teams but I think that they are chance less against Bayern M..

Combo 3: combined odds: 7.76
Teams involved: Newcastle, AZ, GBA, PSG
This is my most risk full combo with 4 teams involved. 4 games, all 4 out of another country. AZ will have to beat ADO Den Haag to keep away the crisis which lasted the complete previous season. GBA can be consider the banker in this combo, with the team now complete and getting onto steam they should have no problems with Roeselare. PSG should easily win at Nantes, which is filling in the last position in Ligue 1. Newcastle plays at home against Hull City. No problems expected here for Newcastle.

Combo 4: combined odds: 7.82
Teams involved: AS Roma, AA Gent, KV Mechelen
This combo is mainly based on the Belgian Jupiler Pro League. AA Gent is one of the teams in form and will visit Mouscron, who is leading the championship. But there previous games were all against relegation candidates. KV Mechelen will face Tubize at home. The main target for both teams this season is to stay out of the relegation zone. I tip a win for KV Mechelen with the support of their magnificent home crowd! AS Roma does close this combo with a away game at Palermo. After the mediocre start of the season Roma is out on revenge and will take the points home with them!

Combo 5: combined odds: 11.08
Teams involved: Monaco, Atletico Madrid, Everton
To be honest, this combo is based on a gut feeling. So I can completely understand that you probably don't want to copy this one. But it is a not a swing in the dark. Everton will visit Stoke, one of the new teams within the Premier league. I consider Atletico Madrid one of the outsiders for the Spanish title and I will hope that they will back-up my feeling with a victory at Valladolid. As Monaco will face Lorient at home, I don't see any reason not to include them in this combo!

Pottential Pay-out: 34,63 euro
Pottential profit: 29,63 euro

The title says it all. I was so close to a big one and a small win. But the penalty rewarded to the Turks was light in my opinion. England did what I expected.
The small win was destroyed by the amazing injury time of Denmark, which was really a surprise to me.

But hey, the weekend is near. So enough new chances :).
I just printed out all the games from the major European Leagues, so tomorrow morning and after work tomorrow you will find my new bets for the weekend.

Supertoto unibet and season bets

Maybe it is not such a bad idea to play on the supertoto this week. Cause nobody had a perfect score in the past 2 weeks so there more then 130k Euros in the pot for the one who has as only one a perfect score. So I will give it a try for 1.80 Euros.

I also added 3 more bets to my season bets. I put on euro on the fact that PSV will take its fifth title in a row in the Eredivisie, that Sporting Gijon will relegate and that Atletico Madrid will end in the top 4 in La Primera Division.

Besides that I will post my bets for this weekend later on today or tomorrow morning.

Weekend and August Recap

It was a good weekend ... for the bookies I guess. A lot of people will not have won with their combos due to all the surprises divided among all the major leagues. But I may not complain cause I came out as a winner. Today Lyon, Stuttgart and Atletico Madrid assured my profit. This combo was worth 5.80Eur. Meaning a 2.80 Eur profit for the day and a profit of around 4 eur for the weekend.

Lets look at the surprises which made the bookies rich this weekend:
Feyenoord lost, AZ lost at home and Ajax failed to win their opening game of the season.
In the Premier League, Liverpool did not win, nor Chelsea did. In Italy it was a graveyard of big favorites, who could please their fans with a predicted easy win. So if I look at all of this, I can be really proud with my profit made this weekend.

If I look back at August, I did not do so great. I went completely overboard with my first bets and lost something around 10 euro on my first day. After that the only was was up. I started with a BR of 50, now my BR is 39,05 with 6 outstanding season bets.

I hope I can fight my way back to my original 50.

Yesterday I made a small profit of 1.16 EURO. It seems small but it was more than 35% of the ante, so thats fine. For today i have again 3 bets. All of them have great pay-outs, which of course is related with th risk level.

Before I post my describe my tips, some advice. Yesterday Ajax lost surprisingly. When reading a sportsbetting forum, I noticed that a lot of peeps out there lost several combos due to this one loss!!! Never put one game in all your tickets. Why should u? There are games enough to choose from!

Here we go with the bets for today:

AC milan - Bologna: 1 No explanation needed I guess.
Aston Villa - Liverpool: 2 I'm hoping that Liverpool wants to make something good after the CL qualification game.

US open 2008

After a rather succesful weekend on the footbal front. Hey I made a profit and it doesn't matter how small it is, it is a profit and progress compared to last weekend. It can become even a big profit if my last combo is correct. But we will have to see.

Tomorrow the US open starts. So another chance to win or loose a lot of money. Betting on the first round can be tricky.

Let's take a look at the favorites for the mens title. Without looking at the odds 3 names spring into my mind. At number 1. Rafael Nadal. He is winning almost everything. It will be his 6th appearance at the US open, his best result was the quarter final in 2006. So the stats are against him but with the form he is having at the moment, everything is possible.
The second favorite, for me, is Djokovic. It will be his 4th US open. He is hoping to do better then last year, when he lost the final against Federer. I think that Djokovic has a better chance than Nadal. Why? For the players, the Us open is one of the strangest tournaments on the calendar. With lots of noise and movement around the courts and this bother Nadal more than Djokovic.
The third favorite is R. Federer. Federer is seeded as number 2 and will be playing his 9th US open. He won the last 4 editions. Impressive. But will he be capable of saving his disastrous year? I don't think so.
Remeber that Federer and Djokovic can meet each other in the semies. But in the lower half of the table there is also Roddick. Roddick probably face Djokovic in the quarters. And if he is injurie free he always makes a chance. And the odds for Roddick are so juicy (65.00).

So what are the odds for these guys.
Nadal -> 2.40
Djokovic -> 4.00
Federer -> 4.50

The womens table is almost impossible to predict. So many possible winners, which of course increases the odds of all of them. But my advice is to stay away from it. Everybody can win from everybody. It will to much depend on the form of the day.

I myself won't bet on the US open. If I would place a bet then I would put a euro on Roddick.

Weekend 22-24 August bets

Last week my bets weren't as good as I hope for. Only one gold combination to minimize the losses. So this weekend bets have to be better. Maybe you expected some tips for this week International Friendlies but I have learned not to bet on friendlies. You will see that a lot a coaches are experimenting, other countries have appointed new coaches and others need to fill in gaps of players who resigned from the international competition. So to much factors are into play to make some save bets.

For this weekend bets I have selected 12 matches. More or less the same number as last week but this week I will play 4 combos of 3 matches. Also I did print out all the Unibet odds for this weekend matches. I have placed my bets really soon in the week so a lot of these odds will change during the week.

So here is what you all have been waiting on:
Triple 1:
This triple bet is based on a win of Liverpool, Germinal Beerschot and Hertha BSC. Liverpool won last weekend but scores the winning goals in the last 10 minutes. Maybe they got more then they deserved. But a home game against Middlesbrough should not be a problem. GBA will face Dender at home, while Hertha will host the game against Bielefeld.
This triple can be worth 3,43€.
Edit: Lost! Both GBA and Hertha weren't capable of winning at home.

Triple 2:
This triples kicks off on Friday, when Hannover 96 plays at home against Cottbus. The two other games are played on Saturday. It would be great if Tottenham and Standard Liege both could win their home game. Tottenham has to prove themselves for their home crowd that they stand a chance of competing at the top of the league after the disappointment of last week. Standard has the downside to it will face Liverpool the game after to see who may proceed to the group stage of the Champions league, but Westerlo shouldn't be capable of stealing away some points.
This triple can be worth 3.15€.

Triple 3:
All three matches within this triple are played on Saturday. Hamburger SV plays their first home game of the season against Karlsruher. After their draw at Bayern Munich I don't expect anything less than a home win. Lokeren, the champions of the draws, will play their first home game against Tubize, which I qualify as the sitting duck in the Jupiler Pro League. The most risking match in this triple is the predicted home win from Hoffenheim against Borussia M'Gladbach. But this increases of course the potential pay-out.
This triple is worth 4.89€.
Edit: Won!!! Thx to the last minute goal of Hamburger SV.

Triple 4:
This triple is mainly focussed on the French Ligue 1. Where I predict home wins of Bordeaux against Nantes and Auxerre against Nice. For the third game I'm hoping that Manchester United will wipe out their bad start and will beat Portsmouth during their first away game of the season.
This triple is worth 5.18€.

After this weekend 4 major, okay 3 and Belgium, competitions are on its way. The first match days the bookies are offering always great odds.
My previous bets were terrible, they were placed to quickly without enough time to over think the bets. I will not step into that trap again. These are dream bets for the bookies. Always take your time, one of the major betting rules.

My rule for this season. I cannot wipe out my previous bets and I shouldn't, so my starting BR was 50€. 39€ still remaining, with a few outstanding season bets. I hope to double this BR before the winter break. Like always my maximum bet is 1€.
No exceptions!!!!

My betting plans for this weekend are:
- 1 triple toto type bet,
- 4 double toto type bets,
- 10 supertoto bets.

My first action was to print out all 1x2 odds for all the 4 competitions (Ligue 1, Premier League, Bundesliga and the Belgium Jupiler Pro League).
Second actions was to select the games I did want to play. 11 games popped up out of this selection. Based on this I decided to place 5 bets, like placed above. Besides this I will bet 10 supertoto´s on Unibet, costing me 1€. So, my total ante for this weekend will be 6€!

Triple:
The triple bet consists of 3 wins. I hope that Manchester United, Marseille and AA Gent will win their game. All these games will be played on Sunday. Marseille plays at home against Auxerre. Never an easy game but a team who considers themselves a candidate for the title has to win all their games at home. Also no excuses for Manchester United, which still will play without C. Ronaldo, who faces Newcastle at home. AA Gent is another teams which hope to end within the top of the league.
This bet has a potential pay-out of 2.69€.

Double 1:
Anderlecht and Tottenham. I did combine these 2 games within one combo cause they have the highest odds. A win for Anderlecht is rewarded with a pay-out of 2.60 and a win for Tottenham is still good for 2.25. So this 1€ bet has a potential outcome of 5.85€. So yes it is risky but the possibility that both teams will one are within my eyes high enough to call this the value bet of the weekend. Anderlecht has an away game at Cercle Brugge, the revelation of last season. Surprisingly no of the start players left the team but we all know that the confirmation is always more difficult than the rise. Anderlecht plays already on the first match day a game which will make or break the season, they just can´t afford another blow after the elimination from Europe and the loss of the Belgian Supercup. Tottenham has to difficult away game to Middlesbrough.

Double 2:
Well the second double has a pay-out of 2.92€ and is based on the hope that and Standard Liege and Werder Bremen will win their away game. Both games are played on Saturday. Standard has a relative easy away game to Dender, who are hoping to avoid relegation. W. Bremen has a more difficult away game at Arminia Bielefeld, which I don´t consider a to difficult hurdle.

Double 3:
This double has a pay-out of 2.22€. Chelsea and KRC Genk will kick off the competition with a home game, so both team should win. I consider the home game from Chelsea against Portsmouth relative risk free, but you never know. The other games in this combo is a lot trickier. Genk has to face one of their black beast, namely GBA. But I placed this bet on the knowledge that Genk did some excellent transfers and these guys want to present themselves to the home crowd, while GBA still has to find a good replacement for Losada.

Double 4:
Double 4 is the double with the lowest pay-out (1.95€) and should be the bet with the lowest risk. Both Arsenal and Schalke 04 should win their home games easily. Arsenal has to face West Bromwich, will Schalke hosts the game against Hannover 96.

Triple 1: 2.69 -> Lost. Man U failed!

Today I did start my new BR, which should last for the complete Football season.
I deposited 50 euro, so with the 4 already placed season bets my starting BR is 100 euros.

2 correct score bets on Standard Liege vs Liverpool. It can haunt on Sclessin and Liverpool will know it. Both in the advantage of Standard Liege.

Preview Premier League 2008/2009

How was it last season?
Well last season the battle for the title lasted until the last match day. Chelsea and Man U entered the last match day with the same points but with a clear goal advantage for the Reds. While Chelsea was hoping that Man U. would loose some points, they only tied against Bolton but due to the win of Man U on Wigan it wouldn't have mattered.

Arsenal ended on the third place and Liverpool disappointed not so much with the 4th place but with the gap between them and the top of the league.

The transfers:
In total the teams of the Premier league spend in total around 388.000.000 €. Yep, you are reading this correct. The biggest spender is Liverpool (62 million €) (Keane 24.000.000€ desperately hoping to close the gap with the top 3, closely followed by Tottenham which bought new players for 61 million €.
Man U on the other hand is very quit on the transfer market. They even made a profit in the middle season of 6.500.000€. Chelsea made a loss of 12 million mostly because they paid around 20 million for Bosingwa of Porto. Arsenal's most expensive transfer is Nasri of Marseille, making Marseilli 16 million richer.

Preview Bundesliga 2008/2009

One of the competitions kicking of this weekend is the Bundesliga. One of the most difficult competitions to predict within in Europe.

There can be so many surprised within a weekend, that it is one of the goldmines of the bookies. Besides Bayern Munich it is also rare to see a team on the top for a decade.

How was it last year?
Well it was no surprise that Fc Bayern Munich took the title after major investments. They did buy player for all lines with as undisputed star, Ribery.
At a considerable distance Werder Bremen took second place, with a 2 point lead on Schalke 04.
On the bottom side of the table, Duisburg, Hansa Rostock and Fc Nurnberg took the dive.

The favorites for this year:
Just like in France, their is only one favorites and that is Fc Bayern Munich. Everybody expect that they will just extend their title. But it will be a strange season for them. It is the first season within Kahn as goalie, which is their biggest loss. On the incoming side they had a calm season the biggest name is Borowski.

The outsiders:
According to the bookies, their are 2 outsides. Schalke 04 and Werder Bremen, both hoping to close the gap with Bayern Munich.
Schalke 04:
Of course with a Dutch head coach, they focussed on the Dutch Market. They bought Engelaar from Twente for 5.500.000 Euro and upcoming star Farfan from PSV for 10 million euros, which is a team transfer record. On the outgoing side it relatively quiet.
Werder Bremen:
Werder focussed on buying promosing players, which should give the team more depth. Probably a good choice cause they only really had to replace Klasnic.

The relegation candidates:
3 relegation spots in the Bundesliga and 3 teams which the bookies think that are rather doesn't have a chance to prolongue their stay in the First Bundesliga. Those are Arminia Bielefeld, Cottbus and last but not least Karlsruher SC.

A team to keep an eye on:
Last year Hoffenheim took the title in the second Bundesliga in their first year in the second Bundesliga. The owner of the team is Hopp, who is one of the founders of SAP, third largest IT company. So you know where the money is coming from. Last year Hoffenheim had the second largest transfer budget in Germany andthey did spend 18.4 miljon euros on players. So a safe bet would be that they won't relegate.

First Olympic Bet

While the opening ceremony still has to start, the games are already started. Yesterday the ladies kicked off the games and today the U-23 mens follow.

Time for a quick first Olympic bet I would say and due to the status of the BR I need a win. So with an attempt to maximize the value a combo of 4 games.
Ivory Coast - Argentina : 2 (1.50)

Preview La ligue 1 2008/2009

Last season:
For the 7th time in a row Lyon took the French title. Very impressive in such a heavy league as the French ligue 1. But the gap is closing compared to the titles of 2 and 3 years ago. Will this be the last in the series? Bordeaux ended in a comfortable second place, 13 points before Marseille who took the ticket for the third qualifying round of the CL. Marseille had an impressive comeback when Eric Gerets took over but still the CL qualifying round ticket was a gift from Nancy, who lost during the last match day from Rennes.

On the bottom side of the table the third relegation place was also decided on the last match day. Due to a victory of Toulouse @ Valenciennes it was Lens, who joined Strasbourg and Metz to la ligue 2.

The favorites:
Lyon: Maybe only one real favorite and that is like always Olympic Lyon. 7 titles in a row. Wow. The only problem is that the odds for Lyon becoming again the French Champions are not good odds. For each euro invested you will get 1.60 in return.

The outsiders:
The bookies and also I see 2 outsides. Outsides is maybe a misplaced term and maybe they should belong to the list of favorites but due to the history and the 7 consecutive titles of Lyon there can be only 1 favorite.

Marseille: Juicy odds for Marseille if they take the title. The odd is 4.75. Very close to a good value bet. Their coach E. Gerets declared that he aim to take the title. He got the players he asked for, so he himself doesn't see any excuses if they don't.

Bordeaux: Runner up last year and in the season 2005/2006. Due to a bad start of Lyon and some ties of Lyon again at the end of the season the gap was only 4 points. I expect that they will loose to much points if due to the CL. The odds for Bordeaux taking the tittle is 6.50.

The one nominated for relegation:
There are 3 relegation places in the French competition and there are 2 teams who make a big chance of leaving Ligue 1 after only 1 season. And these are Grenoble and Le Havre.

Anderlecht to qualify for the CL group stage?

I know it can be a gamble. But hey isn't all sports betting gambling?

Unibet is offering a great odd if RSC Anderlecht manages to qualify for the CL. They are giving back 5 Euro for each Euro invested. After last game I was baffled that they lost against Bate. So also had so many lame excuses but still I think that they have a much better team than Bate. Don't forget that Anderlecht is still preparing season 2008-2009 while Bate already has played a dozen of league games. So, yes it can be a long shot but I give it more than 50% chance of happening, so in my eyes the odds are appealing.

I'm now going to look for some nice value bets for the Olympics. But first of all I have to fund my BR again. After the lousy TDF and some misfortune in some other bets my BR almost dried out.

Champions League Qualification 2008/2009

Tonight the second qualification of the CL will start. There appear to be some easy bets but avoid the surprises.

4 teams should win their home game easily. These are Fenerbache, RSC Anderlecht, Glasgow Rangers and Panathinaikos but of course the value of these bets don't make them interesting. I expect that at least Sparta Prague or Dinamo Zagreb also should be capable of winning their away games. And because it is now wise to combine all these games within in combination I have to make some decisions.

Cause Anderlecht is one of my favorites teams, their are the first team in my combo. Because all start is difficult I decided to only have 2 games within my combination I have to pick one other game. By looking at the odds I have to decide between Sparta and Dinamo. My gut feeling says Sparta, so Sparta it is.

So the winning combo for tomorrow is:
Anderlecht and Sparta good for an odd of 2.24 for 1 EURO.
Bet is 1.25 for a possible payout of 2.80 EURO.

Attracting title isn't?
So what I'm talking about! I mentoined a few posts ago that I finally did got my new car. Well here it is.So where r we now? The topic still doesn't cover the tittle or does it? Now there are much bigger cars than this one. For sure.
Yesterday evening driving home from work, the little disaster happened. It was dark within minutes and this at 6.30 pm in the evening during summer. Few minutes later the hail started to poor down. If have never seen so big and violent hails in my life before. As a result, more than 100 dents in the hood, same for the roof, same for 1 door, etc...

Preview of the Belgian Jupiler League

In the weekend of the 19th of August the Belgian Jupiler League will kick off again.
Let's see who are the favorites for taking the title, the relegation candidates and the European places.

The Jupiler League:
The competition is played with 18 teams and a home and away points. Besides the Champion and the cup winner only the number 2 and 3 will play in Europe next season.
The numbers 17 and 18 will directly relegate to the second Division (Exqui League from this season on).

Last season:
Surprisingly Standard Liege took the title last year. With Anderlecht on a second place and Club Brugge at third. The surprise of the season however was Cercle Brugge with a rookie coach and attractive football ending in spot number 4.
Fc Brussels and Sint Truiden relegated without a chance on another year in the Jupiler League.

The Championship candidates:
Standard Liege
I don't see how Standard Liege can prolong their title. Although (at the moment) no important player left the team, the coach did surprisingly.
The new coach is Lazlo Boloni. The have the advantage that the team is already played in but the big disadvantage that the will probably use another tactic.
Also a big disadvantage is that they probably will have a set back when the discovered that the CL is unreachable from them.

Anderlecht
For me personally the big favorite for next year. Their biggest loss is the move from Ahmed Hassan to Al Ahly but at the end of the seaon last year they played their best games without him. I think that the other players will be releaved a that new stars will step up the plate.
On the incomming side they did great things. Let me rephrase this to: they have bought players with great potential and these are proving them right during the friendly games.
They expect a lot from Mattias Suarez from Belgrano and Kanu from Barueri. But I think that the home crowd will quickly embrace Losada from GBA as their new favorite.

Club Brugge
After a disappointing season, which was saved by qualifying for Europe thx to the missteps of AA Gent and Cercle Brugge, they invested a lot in new players and released the weaker players of last season.
However when I look at their incoming transfers I don't see big names but with the budget available to them they bought in great. They expect that Akpala from Charlerloi will be the next topscores of the Jupiler League.
Their biggest advantage that they have above Anderlecht and Standard is their head coach. Maybe the best coach at the moment in Belgium with great tactical knowledge and the gift the keep all pressure away from the players.

The outsiders:
I see only one and that is Racing Genk. They have invested a lot. Not only in buying new players but also in extending the contracts of vital players. And after so many years of rumours they finally did buy Joao Carlos from Lokeren. On of the best, maybe the best central defender of the Jupiler League.

The odds for a 1 EURO bet:
To win the title Place 1-3
Anderlecht 1.70 1.12
Club Brugge 4.50 1.37
Standard Liege 5.00 1.42
Racing Genk 16.00 3.50

To relegate:
Tubize 1.75

In the beginning I had my doubts about the TDF and their doping program but they were spot on! Great job done.

Now what is their magic secret. First of all, the French doping labs are capable of tracing EPO 3 in the urine of the riders and almost nobody knew this. Secondly it is the only country where EPO 3 is on the doping list. All other countries are still debatting what the allowed % of this new EPO is allowed within the body.

While this is a complete blow for my bets for the Polka Dot Jersey I'm still delighted with the discoveries. On the other hand, there is back hope for my bet on the white Jersey!

Finally a goal to play for

I never had a real goal where I was playing for but this has changed. It is time for a new tele and the ones which I like aren't exactly the cheapest ones.
I hope that our tele will keep going until at least March next year, so I have until to collect the necessary funds. Like that will happen, lol.

It would be great if I could pay lets sat 20% of the tele with my sportsbook and poker winnings. For once this is a long term challenge in stead of my normal small ones.

In the mean time, my bets for the TDF aren't going great.
Yellow: Valverde -> possibility 0%
Green: McEwen -> possibility 5%
Polka dot: Soler or De la Fuente -> possibility 1%
White: Andy Schleck -> possibility 0%

Luckily my tennis bets are keeping my BR alive. Currently it is standing on 9 EURO with 2 tennis bets remaining.

So lets say that 9 euro is the BR at the start of my challenge!

Tour de France: Update

How are my TDF bets holding?
Before the tour I placed 4 bets, one EURO on a possible winner of each Jersey. Well, I had to place a new bet on the Polka dot jersey today cause Soler did leave the tour. So I did place a new bet, this time with De la Fuente as expected winner, good for 14 to 1.

My bet on the yellow jersey is on Valverde. Still possible. He is currently in 17 position a little bit more than a minute behind Evans.

My green jersey bet is McEwen but that doesn't seem going according to plan. I guess the only thing that can get him the jersey is that the others drop out. I expect that Cavendish and Freire will do this but then there is still Hushovd.

My money for the white jersey is on Andy Schleck. Everything is going according plan here.

Betting on the Tour de France

Betting on cycling is never easy. To many possible winners, always a chance of bad luck, etc.... If you compare this variables with the odds you are most are mostly to low for a good value bet.
Therefor it is utmost important to compare the odds of some different bookies.

Why? Cause there can be big differences in these odds.
Let's take a look. I will compare some odds of 2 of the most known and respected bookies used in Belgium. The one is Unibet, the other is Bwin.

First let's take a look on the odds for the green jersey.
The odds @ unibet are the following:
Freire -> 3.00
Hushovd -> 3.75
McEwen -> 5.00

While Bwin does offer the following odds:
Hushovd -> 3.00
Freire -> 3.50
McEwen -> 6.00
So if you fancy a bet on Freire or McEwen you should put place your bet via Bwin, if on the other hand you have a strong believe in Hushovd, Unibet is the place to be.

No differences for the polka dot jersey, both bookies are offering these odds:
Soler -> 3.25
Moreau -> 8.00
Sanchez Samuel -> 9.00

For the creme the la creme of the betting for the tour, the yellow jersey.
Both bookies have to same 3 riders on 1,2 and 3. Both place Evans on the first place with a 3.25 to 1 odd. But there suddenly there are major differences. And again they put the same rider in second place, only this time you get a slightly better value for Valverde at Unibet, where the odd if 5 to 1, while at Bwin the odd is only 4.50 to 1. Menchov is third at both bookies but this time the odds at bwin (8.50 to 1) is better than at unibet (8 to 1).
The odds for the same 3 riders to end on the podium are better at bwin.

Now these differences looks like peanuts if you are playing like me with 1 EURO bets, but if you are a big gambler these differences can mean a big difference.

Suppose that my bets would be as followed:
Yellow Jersey: Valverde
Polka Dot Jersey: Moreau
Green Jersey: McEwen

If I would place all three bets at Unibet my possible pay-out could be: 3.25 + 8 + 5 = 16.25
The same bet at bwin would pay-out if won: 3.25 + 8 + 6 = 17.25
Only a difference of 1 Euro, but this means a free bet for me.

You can take if even one step further and make combos of this bet and then suddenly the differences are immense (if you compare this with the ante).
Combo @ Unibet: 130 EUR for a 1 EUR bet.
Combo @ Bwin: 156 EUR for a 1 EUR bet.

weekend bets

No fancy combos for this weekend.
First let me answer a question from the comment box. For one reason or the other I have a strong believe that Koeznetsova will win Wimbledon at the ladies tournament and the sportsbook gives a nice odd for a win of her (18 to 1). Unfortunately my sportsbook does not offer a win bet for the mens tournament, which is rather strange. Bet if I could place a bet there, I would put my money on Federer with Djokovic out of the way and Nadal who will net reach the second round. So my bet. I hope that Kiefer will win which could give me a profit of 6.5EUR.
Also did put a EURO on Mathieu for his match against Cilic.

Tomorrow we will know the new EC. My money, ok money is a strange word if u only play bets of 1 EUR, is on Germany. While Spain is the more deserved finalist, Germany stays Germany. Besides this the odds for Germany are 2 good to ignore.

BR after these bets: 15 EUR, still a profit of 5 EUR.

Wimbledon and EC 2008 bets

Today I made an incredible profit of 0.20 EUR. Better then a loss I guess.
For tomorrow only one tennis combo, mainly cause the womens odds where not available at the moment. Also 2 EC 2008 bets. 1 EUR on Germany, who should easily defeat the Turks, and another EURO at the correct score of 4-0 for Germany.

Current BR @ the moment: 17.21 EUR.

Wimbledon bets 24-6

Wimbledon started today. So the focus will change to there. Made some wrong bets during the last euro 2008 games so time for some quick wins.

The beginning of a Grand Slam always offers some great opportunities. I tried to get some maximum value with a minimal risk. At least thats the game plan. We will see how it turns out.
The problem with the early rounds is that there no money can be earned with the favorites. Betting on the outsiders on the other side can be to dangerous. So I my bets are on players, which aren't favorites not outsides but ones which should be capable of easily making it to the second round.

Here are my bets. Like always I tried to find 2 combos, where it is sufficient to win of the two to make a profit. I also changed the language of my bookie to English, which should make it easier for most of u to understand.

The answer on the question what my success rate is, is simple. I have no idea! With tennis it will be around 65%, Football is another story. This has to do with the fact that I don't only play single games or combos but also fancy bets on correct scores, which makes it much harder to get a good success rate. On the other hand 1 out of 6 or 7 correct bets is good enough to make a profit.
Unfortunately I also don't have any ROI figures, which probably would give a better insight. I don't want to put effort in stats like that. I tried it before but I always stop after some time with updating these records.

Yesterday I was lucky. Thx to the Dutch B-Team.
Today I wont go overboard. Only 4 bets, good for an ante of 4 EUR, what else. Like every time 2 correct score bets. One on for a 3-0 victory for Spain, the other one is a predicted 2-1 victory for Sweden. (Have to admit that this bets was an error, it should have been a 2-1 victory for Spain) So, if I were you I would put a nickel on that one. An easy bet (I hope), is the side bet that Spain will have more possession than Greece . Last but not least is the combo Spain - Russia.

Update: and again a profitable day. A small profit (1,39 EUR), but it is a profit.

A need a good result and probably due to this I went a little bit overboard with my bets for today. 7 bets is total, good for an ante of 7 EUR. But hey, you only live once. And after the European Champs, I'm planning to start with a new BR and a scheme which should keep me busy until June next year!

Yesterday was not such a good day. It was looking very promising until Cech misjudged a cross, eliminating 3 of my 4 bets. Strange how 1 millionaire can screw up your bet. But shit happens more than once. Still an amazing comeback of the Turks. A live bet after 75 minutes on a win for Turkey would have been great!

Today I added a fantasy bet. I'm pretty confident that Germany will have more corners in the first half then Austria. The other bets are a win for Germany, a win for Germany with 0-3 and a very profitable 0-2 (a pay-out of 18) victory for Croatia.

I decided to play one combo today and 2 correct scores.
I hope that the substitutes of Portugal are motivated enough to beat Switzerland. Combine this with a x2 on Tsjechie and we have my combo.

The correct scores are one for Swiss - Portugal (0-3) and in the other one I expect that the Turks will suffer a 1-2 defeat. We will see.

Yep, you did read it correctly. I doubled my initial BR in just 5 days. Sound spectacular, doesn't it?
Things like the fact that my BR was only a miserable 5 euros, makes it a lot less spectacular but still it is a great start. Now I should try to keep my cool and invest my profit wisely.

I doubled the BR with 4 successful bets. 2 superscores, one combo and a correct score (good for 9 euros). So, I can state that the European Championship is treating me well. Not yet sure if I will place some bets tomorrow. But if I do, I will post them in advance like always.

Again not a winning ticket last week. I think I have to much variations. So from this week on I will pick 3 games for which I fill in the same score for all 14 tickets.

For this week these 3 games are:
W. Bremen - Frankfurt: The reining Champions need to start a winning streak.
Liverpool - Derby: A no brainer I guess. While nothing is sure within football Liverpool should be a banker within everybodies bets.
Man U. - Sunderland: Man U also a banker for this weeks bets. They cannot afford to loose another home game so early in the start of the season.
